About The Role
Sierra Space Careers

At Sierra Space, we build the missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth.

Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond.

Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space.

We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

Designer II is responsible for creating and modifying detailed drawings using CAD hardware and software from sketches, layouts, or notes provided by engineering. Responsibilities include identifying design inconsistencies, contributing to design modifications, and improving product quality and function. The role requires a strong grasp of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles, familiarity with material properties and manufacturing processes, and experience with Documentation Control Database and/or Materials Resource Planning (MRP) Systems.

In this role, you will effectively use CAD tools to produce and modify complex component and assembly 3D models and detail drawings. You will perform intermediate design checks, ensuring compliance with established design standards, and create and maintain an organized structure for all design-related configuration management items within related PLM systems such as Teamcenter and Windchill. Collaborating with engineers and other team members, you will contribute to the creation of innovative designs, resolve design issues, and improve design processes. You will demonstrate effective problem-solving abilities that contribute to the timely evolution of viable and innovative designs. Additionally, you will ensure that 3D models and drawings incorporate all design features and maintain adherence to applicable MBSD and GD&T methods and standards. Identifying design inconsistencies and proposing modifications to improve the quality and functionality of the product will be key responsibilities in this role.
