Job summary

Vast in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer II to support avionics manufacturing for space systems, including test fixtures and wire harnesses. You will collaborate with design/test engineers and technicians to ensure manufacturability, quality, and on-time production of avionics components.

The role is full-time and exempt, reporting to the Senior Manager of Environmental Test. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 3+ years in aerospace manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in the aerospace or avionics industry.
• Experience with vibration test fixtures and thermal vacuum fixtures is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design teams to ensure manufacturability of avionics components and wire harnesses.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and onboard equipment for avionics systems.
• Create and maintain manufacturing plans, procedures, and work instructions.
• Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges via root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and review supplier processes.
• Perform hands-on assembly, integration, and testing of avionics systems.
• Participate in design reviews to improve manufacturability and reliability.
• Collaborate with quality assurance to maintain strict process controls.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in avionics manufacturing.
