Job summary

ST Engineering MRAS in Baltimore, MD seeks a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support advanced manufacturing, with a focus on industrial additive manufacturing for aerospace components. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and research teams to prototype, develop tooling, and implement production-ready processes.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical/Aerospace/Manufacturing Engineering, 2+ years of engineering experience, and proficiency with CAD tools (NX, CATIA, SolidWorks).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in engineering.
  • Experience managing additive manufacturing materials, print preparation, machine operation, and post-processing activities.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and prototype development methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple technical activities and projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communicator capable of working across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier organizations.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and implement new manufacturing technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and support industrial additive manufacturing systems including FDM, SLA, SLS, and future additive technologies
  • Produce prototype parts, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids supporting engineering development and production activities
  • Manage additive manufacturing workflows including job preparation, machine scheduling, post-processing, and quality verification
  • Maintain additive manufacturing materials inventory including ordering, storage, handling, and process documentation
  • Support the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of new additive manufacturing technologies and materials
  • Develop best practices and standardized procedures for additive manufacturing operations
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop additive manufacturing solutions for prototypes, tooling, production-support hardware, and manufacturing demonstrations
  • Support composite manufacturing development activities including tooling development, prototype fabrication, and process improvement initiatives
  • Design, fabricate, assemble, and evaluate prototype hardware, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids
  • Support manufacturing trials, process development activities, and documentation of findings and lessons learned
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, and process-related issues while identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrate strong design-for-manufacturing and production-readiness principles
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and external technology partners to support development programs and manufacturing initiatives
  • Support CNC machining operations and manufacturing activities including 5-axis machining applications used for prototype and tooling development
  • Work with EHS teams to ensure safe operation of manufacturing systems and compliance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Support SDS management and material approval processes for new manufacturing technologies and materials
