Job summary

ST Engineering MRAS is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to join our Advanced Technology team, focusing on prototype development and production of aerospace components. You will own and operate industrial additive manufacturing systems and collaborate with design, manufacturing, and research teams to accelerate product development.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering, 2+ years of experience, and CAD proficiency (NX/CATIA/SolidWorks).

Responsibilities

• Manage additive workflows: job prep, scheduling, post-processing, quality verification.
• Maintain AM materials inventory and process documentation.
• Support evaluation and implementation of new AM technologies and materials.
• Develop best practices and standardized AM procedures.
• Collaborate on AM solutions for prototypes, tooling, and production demos.
• Support composite tooling development, prototype fabrication, and process improvements.

We are seeking a hands-on, self-driven, and highly collaborative Manufacturing Engineer to join our Advanced Technology team, supporting the development, operation, and integration of emerging manufacturing technologies used to prototype and produce next-generation aerospace components.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working directly with manufacturing equipment, building hardware, supporting prototype development, and solving practical engineering challenges. A major focus of this position will be ownership and operation of industrial additive manufacturing systems while supporting broader advanced manufacturing initiatives including composite development, tooling fabrication, machining support, and manufacturing process development.

You will work closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, technicians, and research groups to accelerate product development, improve manufacturing capabilities, and enable innovative aerospace structures and processes.

You will bring hands‑on experience operating industrial additive manufacturing equipment and supporting advanced manufacturing environments. Experience with aerospace manufacturing, composite materials, tooling development, prototyping, and machining operations is highly valued.

What YOU will do

1. Advanced Manufacturing & Additive Manufacturing Operations

• Operate, maintain, and support industrial additive manufacturing systems including FDM, SLA, SLS, and future additive technologies
• Produce prototype parts, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids supporting engineering development and production activities
• Manage additive manufacturing workflows including job preparation, machine scheduling, post‑processing, and quality verification
• Maintain additive manufacturing materials inventory including ordering, storage, handling, and process documentation
• Support the evaluation, qualification, and implementation of new additive manufacturing technologies and materials
• Develop best practices and standardized procedures for additive manufacturing operations

2. Product, Tooling & Manufacturing Development

• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop additive manufacturing solutions for prototypes, tooling, production‑support hardware, and manufacturing demonstrations
• Support composite manufacturing development activities including tooling development, prototype fabrication, and process improvement initiatives
• Design, fabricate, assemble, and evaluate prototype hardware, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and manufacturing aids
• Support manufacturing trials, process development activities, and documentation of findings and lessons learned
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, and process‑related issues while identifying opportunities for improvement
• Demonstrate strong design‑for‑manufacturing and production‑readiness principles

3. Equipment, Safety & Technical Coordination

• Support CNC machining operations and manufacturing activities including 5‑axis machining applications used for prototype and tooling development
• Work with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to ensure safe operation of manufacturing systems and compliance with company and regulatory requirements
• Support Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management and material approval processes for new manufacturing technologies and materials
• Coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and external technology partners to support development programs and manufacturing initiatives

What YOU must bring to succeed

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in engineering
• Experience managing additive manufacturing materials, print preparation, machine operation, and post‑processing activities
• Familiarity with CAD software such as NX, CATIA, SolidWorks, or equivalent
• Understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and prototype development methodologies
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple technical activities and projects simultaneously
• Effective communicator capable of working across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier organizations
• Self‑motivated with a strong desire to learn and implement new manufacturing technologies

Desired Characteristics

• Hands‑on experience with industrial additive manufacturing technologies including FDM, SLA, and SLS systems
• Experience with aerospace composite materials and composite manufacturing processes
• Experience designing and manufacturing tooling, fixtures, jigs, and production aids

Estimate salary range for this role:$63,500 to $93,000 per year.ST Engineering MRAS considers several factors with extending job offers, including but not limited to candidates’ key skills, relevant work experience, education/training/certification, job level, and work location. Base salary is only one component of our competitive Total Rewards package.
