Job summary

City of Redding is seeking a skilled tree trimmer to prune, shape, and remove trees and vegetation while operating aerial devices and power tools. You will work near power lines and maintain equipment, with potential after-hours duties.

Applicants should have two years of line clearance experience and ISA Arborist certification. A valid CA driver's license or ability to obtain one is required. The City emphasizes safety and compliance with Cal/OSHA rules.

Qualifications

• Two years of line clearance tree trimming experience.
• Cal/OSHA Title 8 line clearance requirements (18 months experience) compliance.
• Certified Arborist certification.
• California driver's license or ability to obtain within ten days.

Responsibilities

• Operate aerial devices, brush chippers, and work from elevated platforms.
• Trim, shape and remove trees, including tree trimming in close proximity to high voltage power lines, using gas, hydraulic and power chain saws, rope rigging, other hand tools and equipment.
• Clear and remove limbs, branches, and vegetation in close proximity to high and low voltage power lines, poles and transformers
• Hang banners and other special projects for City departments requiring an aerial device.
• Clean, sharpen and maintain tools and equipment.
• May be called to duty outside regular work hours for both scheduled and emergency work.
• Will be required, on occasion, to climb trees to remove vegetation and prune trees.
• Apply Tree Growth Regulators (TGR's).
