Youth Advocate Programs, Inc. is seeking a part-time hourly Advocate to serve youth and families across Tompkins County. The role emphasizes direct advocacy, planning, and wraparound service delivery, with flexible hours and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and in a community-based program.
  • Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and current auto insurance.
  • Flexible hours may include some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and their families.
  • All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.

Job description

Status: Part Time Hourly FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary of the Position: Hourly, part-time positions serving youth and families throughout Tompkins County areavailable.

  • Applicant must be dependable, committed, and able to serve as a positive role model for youth in community, school, and home settings.
  • The Primary responsibilitiesof the Advocate are to initiate, organize, plan, develop and implement direct advocacy services to assigned participants and their families.
  • All service plans will be based on a strength-based approach using the wrap around model.

This position offers flexible hours, competitive weekly pay, mileage, and activity reimbursement.

Hourly Rate: $20.00 per hour

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience working with at-risk youth and in a community based program
  • Experience in community work and knowledge of community resources.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience using an electronic health record system is a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish speaking) is preferred.
  • Position requires reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current auto insurance coverage.
  • Flexible Hours may include some evenings and weekends
