Job summary

Church World Service in Virginia seeks an Advocacy & Grassroots Organizer to mobilize refugee and immigrant communities, build leadership, and advance welcoming policies at local, state, and federal levels. This semi-remote role requires travel across Virginia and occasional evenings/weekends.

You will collaborate with faith communities, resettlement partners, and policy teams to develop campaigns, deliver trainings, and elevate refugee voices through outreach, events, and media.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a social science field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of community organizing, advocacy, or civic engagement.
• Experience with immigrant or refugee communities at grassroots level.
• Strong written and verbal communication, coalition-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and support refugee and immigrant leaders to build a Virginia-wide leadership network.
• Organize events and meetings to welcome refugees and immigrants in Virginia.
• Organize meetings with policymakers at national, state, and local levels with the Advocacy team.
• Coordinate voter registration and nonpartisan civic engagement activities.
• Travel frequently within Virginia and occasionally to Washington, DC.
