Job summary

West Virginia University’s Advising & Student Success Center in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Assistant Director (Hybrid) to oversee day-to-day operations and provide direct academic advising to ~4,100 undergraduates across 32 programs with 25 professional advisors.

The role leads advisor training, assessment, and development, serves as a liaison with academic departments, and represents the center on university committees while advancing recruitment and orientation efforts.

Qualifications

• Requires Master’s degree and minimum five years of experience in academic advising or student success in higher education.
• Oversee advising operations, training, assessment, and program development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Develop advising for undergraduates in Eberly Majors (~60–100 students).
• Lead assessment of advising effectiveness and student satisfaction.
• Train new advisors and oversee day-to-day operations of the Advising Center.
