Job summary

Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation is seeking an Adventure Program Specialist to supervise participants of all ages in outdoor activities such as archery, hiking, climbing, and kayaking. You will support instruction, encourage participation, and model inclusive, fun learning in a diverse team.

You’ll ensure safety during activities, manage behavior, and assist with safety protocols and equipment checks. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and year-round programming is required.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising adventure or outdoor recreation programs.
• Ability to lead groups and manage participant behavior.
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants of all ages and encourage participation in activities such as archery, hiking, mountain biking, climbing and kayaking.
• Lead games, promote skill development, and adapt activities for inclusive play.
• Ensure indoor rock wall safety, inspect equipment, and administer belay tests.
