Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Operations Manager for our client’s extreme sports park near Welkom, Free State. You will oversee daily operations, lead a high-traffic team, enforce safety protocols, and ensure guests have an exceptional experience.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, at least five years in operations management, strong budgeting, staff training, and excellent communication; you will coordinate with marketing for events and manage equipment and vendor

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Hospitality Management, Recreation Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in operations management, preferably in adventure park, theme park, or high-volume recreational facility sector.
• Proven experience in staff management, training, and performance evaluation.
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment, particularly in activities involving physical risk.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational costs effectively.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, guests, and stakeholders.
• Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the extreme sports park, ensuring activities run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
• Manage and lead a team of operational staff, including activity instructors, maintenance crew, customer service representatives, and safety officers.
• Implement and enforce rigorous safety protocols and procedures across all park attractions and activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, controlling costs, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying opportunities for revenue enhancement.
• Ensure high standards of customer service, addressing guest inquiries and feedback promptly and professionally.
• Manage equipment maintenance, inventory, and procurement to ensure all facilities and gear are in excellent working condition.
• Coordinate with marketing and event teams to support special events, promotions, and group bookings held at the park.
• Develop and implement staff training programs focusing on safety, customer service, and operational procedures.
• Monitor park performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain strong relationships with local authorities, suppliers, and community stakeholders in the Welkom area.
