Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking a Traffic Engineer (Civil Engineer Transportation Senior or Advanced) to guide traffic analysis for North Central Region projects. The role includes directing traffic engineering work, reviewing projects, and leading TMP and lane-closure development.

The position requires a PE or EIT, ABET-accredited degree, and at least 4 years of engineering experience, with telework opportunities from Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an Engineering Accreditation Commission (AECT/ABET) accredited college or university with a 4-year bachelor's degree (or Master's/Ph.D.) in engineering, and hold an EIT certification or PE license.
• At least 4 years of engineering experience after degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine up to complex traffic functions for the North Central Region and provide traffic engineering direction to technicians and engineers.
• Lead development and approval processes for TMP and lane closures, including the Lane Closure System (LCS).
• Coordinate with project personnel, contractors, local officials, and the public to communicate traffic principles and decisions.
