Job summary

McGough is seeking a Safety Manager to champion safety culture across multiple construction projects nationwide. You will enforce safety policies, lead incident investigations, and mentor onsite crews to improve risk awareness.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Project Executives and Superintendents, enforcing regulations, and driving continuous safety program improvements while supporting travel to projects across the United States.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management or Engineering
  • Minimum 7 years dedicated solely to building construction safety
  • Minimum 5 years of construction safety process management experience
  • Minimum 3 years of actual field safety experience
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 502 training
  • First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED training, current to within 2 years
  • Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques
  • ASP or CSP certification required within 2 years of appointment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify exposures and lead corrective actions
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Four hours of documented education in safety areas (fall protection, scaffolds, excavation, confined space, crane operations, electrical, investigations)

Responsibilities

  • Champions McGough's safety culture by leading and enforcing safety policies across multiple projects
  • Take initiative as a self-starter and team player, driving improvements in safety programs
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations
  • Identify and control hazardous conditions through job-specific safety standards and corrective actions
  • Partner with Project Executives and site staff to drive proactive safety culture
  • Mentor onsite crews to instill safety best practices and risk awareness
  • Build relationships with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and suppliers for safety alignment
  • Drive program development and continuous improvements in safety culture
  • Perform all functions in partnership with McGough's culture and ethics
  • Build positive relationships with Safety Team and jobsite staff
  • Contribute to development and enhancement of the project safety program
  • Manage time and resources to provide safety leadership across projects
  • Strive for growth of professional knowledge and skills
  • Provide coverage when others are absent
  • Enforce safety program and policies and implement corrective actions
  • Aid project teams to ensure compliance with safety programs
  • Stop unsafe practices and recommend disciplinary action
  • Review safety plans and conduct pre-construction planning meetings
  • Provide direction to on-site safety personnel
  • Involve in OSHA inspections and follow-ups
  • Investigation of incidents and research safety topics
  • Conduct weekly audits and site-wide safety meetings
  • Train employees on safety programs
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective procedures
  • Investigate all incidents
  • Evaluate training needs and provide recommendations
  • Perform inspections and prepare reports
  • Track and identify trends
  • Maintain site safety files
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Position involves travel to projects nationwide
  • Occasionally visit construction jobsites
