Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to support the perioperative team by decontaminating, assembling and sterilizing instruments and ensuring safe, compliant processing of all re-usable surgical equipment.

Responsibilities include inventory management, instrument tracking and adherence to Joint Commission, AAMI, IAHSCMM, and other regulatory standards. Strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year of sterile processing experience or graduation from an approved program.
• Certification through IAHSCMM or CBSPD within one year of hire.
• Knowledge of sterilization modalities and processing systems.
• Strong computer literacy for instrument tracking and inventory.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontamination, assembly, sterilization, testing and storage of instruments.
• Maintain inventory and storage of processed supplies.
• Support operating room and perioperative teams.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as JCAHO, AAMI, IAHSCMM, AORN, OSHA.
