Job summary

The CORE Institute is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician to support our surgical teams in Phoenix. You will decontaminate, sterilize instruments, and ensure availability of trays and equipment in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma/GED, three years of sterile processing experience preferred, and current national certification or plan to obtain within 90 days. BLS certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
• Three years of Sterile Processing Technician experience preferred.
• Current national certification as Sterile Processing Technician, Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or Surgical Instrument Processor, or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies, and equipment, and assembles, wraps, and sterilizes trays of instruments.
• Monitors wash solutions to ensure quality for decontamination of instruments and equipment.
• Sorts mismatched sets and makes them available to sterile processing customers promptly.
• Restocks, labels, maintains inventory, submits requisitions, and distributes instruments and equipment.
• Performs environmental maintenance and assists in maintaining inventory in sterile processing and operating rooms.
• Verifies equipment functions and coordinates maintenance or replacement as needed.
• Maintains a clean work area and supports safety, infection control standards.
• Recognizes and anticipates surgical team needs for instrument availability.
• Notifies appropriate personnel about autoclave or Steris system issues.
• Reviews par levels to ensure patient safety resources are available.
