Job summary

Avant Technology in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced Level 2 SMT Operator to program, set up, and operate high-volume surface mount production equipment including printers, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow ovens, AOI, and routers. The role requires hands-on expertise across multiple SMT devices and a strong commitment to quality and throughput.

A high school diploma and at least 2 years of SMT experience are required; English or bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of SMT manufacturing experience, including programming and operation.
• Ability to program at least two SMT equipment types (Printer, SPI, P&P, Oven, AOI, Router).
• Ability to read BOMs, assembly drawings, and other technical docs.
• 20/20 vision with color discernment; English or bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate SMT equipment (Printer, SPI, P&P, Reflow, AOI, Router).
• Create and optimize reflow oven thermal profiles.
• Perform first article inspections and visual quality checks against BOMs/drawings.
• Apply IPC-610 standards.
• Identify and correct misfeeds, misplacements, and alignment issues; escalate as needed.
• Support line changeovers, feeder loading, and parts kit management.
• Maximize throughput while maintaining safety and quality compliance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, orderly workspace.
