Job summary

XLR8 EMS in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced SMT Technician to support high-volume electronics manufacturing. You will maintain and troubleshoot SMT lines, ensure optimal uptime, and uphold IPC-A-610 standards.

You will work with a team on pick-and-place equipment (Mydata, MyCronic, Vitronic), reflow ovens, and AOI systems, performing PMs, calibrations, and defect analysis to minimize downtime and maximize line efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an SMT Technician in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of SMT process principles (stencil printing, placement, reflow soldering).
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a technical team.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration on SMT machinery according to established schedules and procedures.
• Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions, minimizing downtime and ensuring maximum line efficiency.
• Monitor SMT line performance, identify root causes of defects (e.g., solder bridging, tombstoning, misalignments), and implement corrective actions.
• Train production operators on equipment use and proper maintenance procedures.

• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and calibration on SMT machinery according to established schedules and procedures.
• Diagnose and repair equipment for malfunctions, minimizing downtime and ensuring maximum line efficiency.
• Monitor SMT line performance, identify root causes of defects (e.g., solder bridging, tombstoning, misalignments), and implement corrective actions.
• Train production operators on equipment use and proper maintenance procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of experience as an SMT Technician or Equipment Maintenance Technician in a high-volume manufacturing setting.
• Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of SMT process principles (stencil printing, component placement, reflow soldering).
• Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Familiarity with quality standards (e.g., IPC-A-610).
