Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services seeks an on-site Rigging Technician to assemble and operate lifting systems for construction projects. You will load, transport, and position equipment using cables, ropes, pulleys, and winches under supervisor guidance.

The role requires coordinating signals to crane operators and ensuring worker safety while rigging loads for transport or installation. Strong knot-tying and rigging skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Advanced Rigger Certification required.
• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Load, transport, unload and assist in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches and slings based on load.
• Attach pulleys/blocks to overhead structures with bolts/clamps.
• Attach loads to crane hooks using grappling devices.
• Direct crane operator using signals to ensure safety of workers and material.
• Set up braces and rigs hoisting equipment with hand tools.
• Disassemble and assemble cranes; splice rope and wire cabling.
• May direct workers during hoisting of machinery onto/off ships, railcars or trucks.
• Perform routine maintenance/cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Observe all safety rules.

SUMMARY

Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps.
• Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook.
• Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled using hand signals, loudspeaker, two-way radio or telephone.
• Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches.
• Has ability to tie various knots.
• Assembles and disassembles cranes.
• Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle.
• May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroad, cars or trucks.
• Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
• Responsible for observing all safety rules.
• Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
