Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled Rigging Technician to assemble rigging, load and move equipment, and guide crane operators to ensure safe hoisting operations on our construction sites in Wisconsin.

The role requires knowledge of rigging gear, knots, and crane signaling, with hands-on experience in assembling/disassembling cranes and maintaining tools, while strictly following safety rules.

Qualifications

• Works under supervision and follows established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting rigging gear.
• Attaches pulley/blocks to overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Attaches load with loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook.
• Gives directions to crane operator to ensure safety.
• Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment with hand tools.
• Knots: capable of tying various knots.
• Assembles and disassembles cranes.
• Splices rope and wire cables for slings or tackle.
• Directs workers hoisting machinery onto/off vehicles.
• Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of tools.
• Observes all safety rules.

Job description

SUMMARY

Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction project. RESPONSIBILITIES - Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved. - Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. - Attaches load with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes and chains to crane hook. - Gives direction to crane operator or hoisting engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and material handled using hand signals, loudspeaker, two-way radio or telephone. - Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. - Has ability to tie various knots. - Assembles and disassembles cranes. - Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle. - May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroad, cars or trucks. - Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment. - Responsible for observing all safety rules. Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
