Astrya Global Medical Staffing is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment in Springfield, Oregon. The role is a 13-week contract with extension potential, schedule 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, five days per week, and pay between $948 and $1,021 per hour.

Responsibilities include gap coverage in vascular surgery, OR first assist, inpatient/outpatient rounding, and documentation in Epic EMR. BLS/ACLS required, COVID vaccine is mandatory.

Qualifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Experience as a Surgical Physician Assistant preferred.
• Ability to work 12-hour or 24-hour call shifts as part of a vascular surgery team.

Responsibilities

• Provide gap coverage as an APP in vascular surgery.
• Assume first assist role in the OR and assist with clinic procedures.
• Round and admit patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Document with Epic EMR and maintain case logs for privileges.

Pay Rate: $948 - $1021/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA) for a locum tenens assignment in Springfield, Oregon. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Surgical Physician Assistant (SPA):

• Provide gap coverage as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in Vascular Surgery
• Work 12-hour call shifts (0700-1700 or 1700-0700) Monday-Friday or 24-hour call shifts (0700-0700) Monday-Friday, including 24-hour weekend call shifts
• Report at the beginning of shift for handoff, rounding, and other duties when shift starts at 0700
• Perform rounding and admissions in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Manage a patient load of approximately 15-20 patients per day with a focus on vascular/endovascular patient demographics
• Serve as first assist in the OR and assist with in-clinic procedures
• Work within a 36-bed inpatient unit while also covering outpatient/clinic hours (0800-1630)
• Collaborate with and support an attending MD/DO; will not work solo
• Fulfill a minimum of 6 call shifts per month
• Maintain current BLS and ACLS certifications (from American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Utilize Epic EMR system for all clinical documentation
• Provide documentation of clinical services representative of the scope and complexity of privileges requested within the previous 24 months
• Submit case logs for the last 24 months for First, Second, or Third Assist in General Surgery and Surgical Sub-Specialties, including surgeon documentation of assist level
• Provide specific documentation of training and competency for the NP privilege of First Assist in Surgery, including type and number of procedures performed in the last two years
• Comply with COVID-19 vaccine requirements with no exemptions accepted
