Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Palliative Care team. The APP will provide acute care for palliative and cancer patients, with clinic and hospital rounding across Mount Carmel facilities.

The role mainly follows a daytime, Monday to Friday schedule with occasional Saturday shifts. Required education includes a Masters in Science, Nursing or related specialty and APN program completion, with Ohio RN licensure.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree required in science, nursing or a specialty field
  • Graduate of an advanced practitioner program
  • Current Ohio RN license; ANCC certification preferred
  • Physician Assistant considered as well
  • BLS certification required; ACLS/NRP/EFM/PALs for some depts
  • DEA license or ability to obtain
  • 2–3 years APP experience in palliative care preferred
  • Strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage care of palliative and cancer patients
  • See patients in clinic and round in Mount Carmel Hospitals
  • Primary shift: days, Mon–Fri 8am–5pm with occasional Saturday

OPPORTUNITY HIIGHLIGHTS

Mount Carmel Health System, located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Palliative Care team.

The Palliative Care APP provides acute healthcare services for specialty health conditions in specific populations in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

The selected candidate will manage the care of palliative, cancer patients. They will see patients in clinic and round on patients in the Mount Carmel Hospitals.

The primary shift will be days, Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm with an occasional Saturday shift.

What you need:

  • Education: Masters required in Science, Nursing or Specialty field. Graduate of an Advanced Practitioner program
  • Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio
  • Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in designated specialty required. American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) is preferred
  • Physician Assistant will be considered as well
  • BLS provider certification required
  • ACLS, NRP, EFM and PALs required for some departments
  • Holds a DEA license for controlled substances or ability to obtain as required
  • All qualifications above are subject to grandfathering by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years recent and relevant APP experience in Palliative Care is higher preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
