Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX seeks an Advanced Practice Provider for inpatient psychiatry to augment a supervising physician's data gathering and to institute patient care plans under direction. The role includes prescribing treatment and performing rounds with the treatment team.

The position requires PA or NP credentials, Texas licensure, and relevant psychiatric experience. TTUHSC Montford Unit offers a collaborative, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct telepsychiatry clinics with outpatient units.
• Take in-house and regional calls on a rotation basis.
• Refer patients to medical specialists for specialized treatment.

Major/Essential Functions

• Under supervision of the Medical Director examinesoffender/patients to determine general mental health and prescribestreatment in conjunction with treatment teams' input andadministers medication as needed
• Under supervision of the Medical Director inspects, completes,and analyzes records, assigns, reviews and updates classification,completes admission notes, progress notes, and discharge summariesand makes rounds on patients admitted.
• Conducts regular telepsychiatry clinics with outpatientunits.
• Takes inhouse and regional call on a rotation basis.
• Refers patients to medical specialist or other practitioner forspecialized treatment.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from a Physician Assistant's training program approvedby the Council on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the American Medical Association. Current Physician Assistant licensein the State of Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.Certification as a Physician Assistant as evidenced by passing theexaminations given by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants. OR Graduation from an accreditedschool of nursing as a nurse practitioner from an approvedcertification program recognized by Texas Board of Nursing. CurrentR.N. license as approved by the Texas Board of Nursing or abilityto transfer license to Texas. Certification as a Nurse Practitionerfrom an approved certification program as recognized by Texas Boardof Nursing or ability to transfer certification to Texas.
