Job summary

Wabtec in Wytheville, VA seeks an experienced maintenance technician to repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment. The role requires advanced skills in electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding and machine operation with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

You will perform start-ups and shutdowns, calibrate instruments, manage spare parts inventory, and support continuous improvement efforts. Strong teamwork and ability to work weekends or on-call shifts are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years vocational or one year technical strongly preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of general maintenance required
• Advanced skill level in electrical, hydraulics, boiler operations, mechanical, pneumatics
• Basic electronics and PLC knowledge required
• Proficiency with Windows, Word and Excel; able to work with limited supervision

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance on plant machinery and equipment
• Lead special project work when assigned
• Conduct boiler and mechanical room operations
• Perform plant start-ups and shutdowns
• Calibrate gauges and instruments
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment
• Maintain critical parts inventory
