Job summary

Applied Technology Solutions, Inc. (ATS) seeks a Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer to provide analysis support across programs from technology development to flight vehicle manufacturing and testing.

Join an interdisciplinary design team to model components, subsystems, and physical systems using Python/MATLAB, ANSYS/Abaqus, and custom tools; apply linear algebra, differential equations, and statistics to engineering problems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, mechanical/ aerospace engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of modeling and simulation experience using commercial or custom tools.
• Strong mathematics background (linear algebra, differential equations, statistics).
• Experience in static and dynamic structural analysis techniques.
• Experience developing custom scripts/tools in Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
• Experience with multi-physics analyses of components/subsystems.
• Experience with coupled analyses (aerothermal/thermo-structural).
• Experience with both steady-state and transient analyses.
• Experience using FEA solvers (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform modeling and simulation activities to support technology development, engineering design, manufacturing, and testing.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary design team to analyze components, subsystems, and physical systems.
• Use commercial and custom-built analysis tools to solve scientific and engineering problems.
• Apply mathematical methods to support engineering analysis.
• Perform static and dynamic structural analyses using appropriate analytical and computational techniques.
• Conduct multi-physics and coupled analyses involving multiple simultaneous physical phenomena.
• Perform steady-state and transient analyses of physical systems and phenomena.
• Use continuum-level FEA solvers, such as ANSYS or Abaqus, to evaluate component and subsystem behavior.
• Develop custom scripts and software tools using Python or MATLAB to support modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
• Support development and testing activities by interpreting analysis results and communicating findings.
