Summary

This position is located at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center within the Nursing Operations Service. The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) conducts ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work, ensures accurate and timely scheduling of appointments, provides guidance to staff members including policy updates, assists with orientation, and organizes the work structure of their assigned areas.

Duties

Responsibilities include training personnel, developing training programs for various wards and specialty areas, evaluating procedures, and assisting in employee training assessments. Additionally, the incumbent performs as a Medical Support Assistant, handling record assembly, interpreting physician orders, managing communications, scheduling, and orienting new staff and physicians.

Work Schedule

Full Time, Multi Tours, Rotating 5-8 hour shifts, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.

Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Qualifications

Experience in clerical or administrative work, or education equivalent, is required. Grade level GS-06 requires one year of experience at GS-05 level, with skills in team collaboration, organization, communication, and knowledge of healthcare processes and terminology.
