Advanced Medical Support Assistant (Health Benefits Enrollment & Eligibility)

This position involves serving as a specialist on eligibility and enrollment issues, providing administrative and technical assistance related to veterans' health benefits, and managing applications received through various channels.

Pay Range: $45,378 - $58,989 per year (based on skills and experience).

Summary

The incumbent serves as an AMSA under HBU to the Health Administration Service, focusing on eligibility and enrollment of veterans into VA healthcare. Responsibilities include interviewing applicants, verifying eligibility, managing enrollment data, and ensuring timely registration of new veterans.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, with various start times (7:00am, 7:30am, or 8:00am).

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Selective Service Registration (for males born after 12/31/1959)
  • Proficiency in English
  • Background/security investigation
  • Completion of online onboarding
Qualifications

Experience or education equivalent to six months of clerical or administrative work, or one year above high school. One year of experience at the next lower grade level is also required, demonstrating skills in communication, collaboration, organization, and knowledge of healthcare processes.

Education

Must submit transcripts if qualifications are based on education. Recognized degrees from accredited institutions are acceptable.
