Job summary

Karma Automotive is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) to design and optimize manufacturing lines for current and future production. You will oversee projects with Karma’s contract manufacturing partners and drive continuous improvement using DFM, DFA and lean guidelines.

You will lead DFM/DFA activities, develop concepts for new vehicle lines, coordinate with Design Release Engineers and VI team, and ensure on-time delivery of equipment, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related Engineering or science field.
• Experience establishing contract manufacturing projects is strongly desired.
• Ability to commute between HQ in Irvine and Karma’s Moreno Valley facility during launch (60% on-site).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the automotive industry.
• Experience with Body, Paint and General Assembly processes a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead DFM and DFA activities with DREs for new and modified products.
• Provide guidance on GD&Ts and datum strategies including variation analysis.
• Develop high level concepts for new vehicle lines considering safety, ergonomics, and line layout.
• Submit competitive process proposals based on RFQ analyses.
• Deliver manufacturing lines/stations to production and manage pilot runs and testing.
• Lead cost improvement via DFM, DFA and Kaizen.
• Coordinate engineering changes and RFQs for equipment/tooling.
• Create and monitor installation schedules and budgets.
