Manufacturing Engineer

#TeamAAM is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Driveline team in Three Rivers, Michigan. This is a fully onsite role. The Manufacturing Engineer implements manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling, and machinery to maximize throughput. They establish control charting of critical features and processes, monitor results and determine machine and process capabilities and performance reliability. They also manage the implementation of new processes, select equipment for purchase, and estimate time requirements. This person identifies optimal tooling for machining and resolves issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences. They ensure production‑part acceptance and manufacturing readiness, participate in the adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency, and consult on and oversee the selection and implementation of automation and robotics on the assembly line.

The ideal candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others at any level of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Develops manufacturing equipment purchase proposals by studying manufacturing plans and commitments, evaluating manufacturing processes and requirements.
  • Recommends new manufacturing equipment by identifying vendors and operating equipment, evaluating equipment capabilities and service history.
  • Completes equipment cost projections by analyzing investment, return, and savings.
  • Monitors equipment installations by advising crews.
  • Meets production requirements by designing equipment modifications as needed.
  • Prepares equipment operators by conducting training, providing reference and support resources.
  • Maintains process integrity by developing and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Programs and modifies CNC programs on lathes and milling machines.
  • Validates CNC programs on equipment.
  • Designs and develops fixtures for machining equipment.
  • Works with Fanuc robots and automation equipment.
  • Maintains equipment records by filing documents, updating equipment database.
  • Protects organization value by keeping information confidential and warning others about potential breaches.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other applicable disciplines.
  • 2-5+ years of work experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and thorough knowledge of tooling/programming.
  • Experience programming and modifying CNC programs.
  • Understanding of GD&T and CMM system concepts.
  • Knowledge of machining fixtures (pneumatic and hydraulic).
  • Understanding of AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience with robotic automation.
