Job summary

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) seeks a Heavy Duty Mechanic, Advanced Journey/Lead, to professionally maintain heavy- and light-duty equipment used in road and airport projects across Alaska.

The role involves diagnosing and repairing engine, transmission, hydraulic, brake, and electrical systems, with travel to remote locations. Leadership responsibilities may be involved as an advanced journey/lead technician.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems; repair and maintenance.
• Willingness to attend and pass factory authorized schools.
• Ability to read and apply OSHA guidelines and manuals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain heavy- and light-duty equipment for road and airport projects.
• Diagnose, repair, and modify engine, transmission, hydraulic, brake, and electrical systems.
• Resolve unusual or complex equipment problems using varied techniques.
• Travel to remote locations for equipment maintenance as needed.
