Job summary

Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) seeks a Fiber Optic Technician II to join the Technologies and Operations team at NNSS (Nevada National Security Site). The role involves fabricating fiber optic assemblies, polishing, splicing, testing, and supporting experiments.

Ability to obtain a DOE security clearance and willingness to work underground are required. Relocation may be offered; the company provides medical/dental/vision, a pension and 401k, PTO, holidays, and tuition assistance.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or HS diploma with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on fiber optic assembly, connectors, and polishing preferred.
• Ability to work well in a team environment and take direction.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Follow safety protocols and work independently when needed.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Work underground at NNSS is required.
• Willingness to work a 4/10 schedule (Mon-Thu).
• Pre-employment drug test and background checks required.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and assemble fiber optic cables, connectors, and components to precise specs.
• Perform polishing, fusion splicing, testing, and quality checks.
• Support fiber optic tasks for ongoing experiments and projects.
• Work with hand tools, powered tools, and fiber optic test equipment.
• Collaborate with technicians, engineers, and scientists to complete projects on time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and procedures.
• Support work at the NNSS facility and NLV site.
