Job summary

Eversource Energy is seeking an engineer to join the Advanced Modeling and Forecasting team within System Planning. The role focuses on Synergi Electric modeling, MATLAB automation, and model governance for large-scale studies across transmission and distribution planning.

You will collaborate with IT and engineering teams to deliver rigorous, repeatable analyses, including 8760 and contingency studies, and support data-driven investment decisions in a dynamic grid environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quantitative field preferred.
3+ years of professional experience in the utility industry, power system planning, or closely related field.
Professional-level MATLAB and Simulink experience.
Experience with Synergi Electric and PSCAD workflows.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced Synergi Electric special studies, including 8760-hour thermal and voltage analyses.
Develop, execute, and document scenario-based planning analyses under varying load growth and DER adoption.
Interpret modeling results and provide defensible recommendations to planners and leadership.
Support medium- and long-range distribution planning studies and system constraint identification.
Automate Synergi Electric Solver execution and batch processing of large study sets.
Support Synergi integration with PSCAD for EMT studies and data exchange.
