Job summary

Yakima is seeking a Design Engineer III - Advanced Development in Lake Oswego, OR. The role focuses on technical development and engineering execution of aftermarket concepts during the Concept Phase of the Yakima Product Development Process.

You will collaborate with Industrial Design, Business Management, Global Sourcing, and manufacturing partners to deliver products meeting performance, manufacturability, and market requirements, while creating clear specifications and maintaining

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
6+ years in engineering product development with leading projects.
3+ years in consumer product design preferred.
Proficient in SolidWorks CAD with surfacing and FEA.
Experience with manufacturing processes (injection molding, metal fabrication, casting).
Lean/manufacturing and offshore experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop innovative concepts within the Concept Phase of the Yakima Product Development Process.
Collaborate with Design, Category Business Management, Global Sourcing, and manufacturing partners.
Develop CAD models, build prototypes, obtain costs, and translate requirements into specs.
Maintain an Engineering Notebook documenting analyses, concepts, and solutions.
Work with Industrial Designers to integrate aesthetics and user experience into designs.
Drive project schedules with Advanced Development Manager and cross-functional teams.
Create and maintain product specification documents and participate in reviews.
