Job summary

Yakima Products in Lake Oswego, OR, is seeking a Design Engineer III - Advanced Development to drive concept development and engineering execution for aftermarket products during the Concept Phase.

You will collaborate with Industrial Design, Global Sourcing, and manufacturing partners to translate market needs into product specs and prototypes, ensuring performance and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 6+ years of engineering product development experience.
• 3+ years of consumer product design experience preferred.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD software.
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work independently within cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative concepts within the Concept Phase of the Yakima Product Development Process.
• Collaborate with Industrial Design, Category Business Management, Global Sourcing, and manufacturing partners to meet requirements.
• Develop CAD models, build and evaluate prototypes, obtain cost estimates, and translate requirements into specs.
• Maintain an Engineering Notebook to document workflow, results, analyses, and concepts.
• Drive project schedules with internal resources and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate in technical reviews and participate in validation plans with Test Team.
