Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking an Advanced Composite Engineer in Phoenix, AZ on a hybrid schedule. You will work across all product development phases, acting as a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers, reporting to the Engineering Manager.

The role involves aerospace gas turbine products, composites, bonded assemblies, and advanced materials, with 10–20% travel. Requires US work authorization and lifting up to 35 pounds.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in composite materials or manufacturing processes.
• Experience with layup, cure, bonding, molding and related inspection techniques.
• Familiarity with standards for composite materials and processing.
• Understanding of mechanics and material characterization of composites.

Responsibilities

• Develop, characterize, and qualify composite material systems (prepregs, adhesives, resins, core, reinforcement).
• Support composite suppliers through manufacturing processes.
• Evaluate defects and drive root-cause investigations and actions.
• Lead testing to generate material allowables and verify process capability.
• Interpret drawings and ensure process requirements flow to suppliers.
• Coordinate supplier assessments and alignment with special process controls.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve processing issues.
• Create and maintain process documentation and specifications.
• Mentor early-career engineers in Materials Engineering.
