Job summary

Wisconsin Heavy Fabrication is seeking a Burn Table Programmer to manage CNC nesting for Plasma and Oxy-Fuel cutting, read drawings, and coordinate material readiness in Manitowoc, WI. You will optimize inventory and meet production deadlines while working with the IES infrastructure team.

The role requires strong machining and fabrication background, plus proficiency with measurement tools and MS Office. A safety-conscious, multitasking candidate will thrive in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior experience in metal fabrication, CNC machining operation, industrial manufacturing is preferred.
• Apprenticeship or vocational training in machining, welding, or fabrication is desired.
• Ability to efficiently and independently use the plasma and Oxy Fuel burn table, beveling equipment and the following tools: Oxy Fuel hand torch, hand grinder, hand scraper, sledge hammer, pneumatic hammer, tape measure and caliper.
• Able to locate and reference all work instructions pertaining to current job or project.
• Understanding of department KPIs, metrics and measurables.
• Sense of urgency and accountability.
• Forklift and crane certified

Responsibilities

• Program CNC nests for Plasma and Oxy-Fuel cutting tables.
• Adjust processes (travel speed, tip size, gas pressures, kerf, torch height) to achieve desired quality.
• Identify raw material size and grade requirements to support work orders.
• Support management and optimization of flat steel plate inventory.
• Support prioritization of burn table jobs as required.
• Read blueprints and engineering drawings to determine tolerances and trim stock.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Use measuring instruments (tape measure, protractor, micrometer).
• Maintain robust analytical reasoning and sound decision making.
• Communicate effectively across functions and levels.
• Handle multiple projects and switch gears as needed.
• Maintain deadlines and urgency in delivery.
