Job summary

CarMax Lafayette is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist II to perform mechanical repairs and cosmetic work following CarMax standards and processes. You will interact with customers during repairs, manage parts inventory, and support store operations with integrity and precision.

The role requires ASE certifications as applicable, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays. The hourly rate ranges from $28.80 to $43.20.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of New Associate Orientation Training - Operations and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• ASE certifications as listed (A4, A5, A7, A6, A1, A3, A8, A2) where required by state/local law.
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods; may require nights, weekends, holidays; uniform standards.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical repairs including engine performance, drivability, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, complete 4-wheel alignments, and service heating and air conditioning systems.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and maintain shop cleanliness per 5S principles.
• Consult with customers on repair needs, explain services performed, and ensure clear communication.
• Review and close repair orders accurately, including labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, and maintain proper stocking levels to support efficiency.
