Job summary

CarMax is seeking an Auto Repair Specialist II in Green Brook, NJ to perform advanced mechanical and cosmetic repairs, manage repairs, and maintain parts inventory. You will interact with customers, ensure CarMax quality standards, and support store operations while adhering to EH&S policies.

This on-site role requires ASE certifications, ability to work nights/weekends/holidays, and strong teamwork in a fast-paced environment. The hourly rate is $38.40–$57.60, with benefits described by CarMax.

Qualifications

• New Associate Orientation Training – Operations and Kronos Training for Hourly Associates.
• ASE certifications required by state/local law in steering and suspension, brakes, heating air conditioning, electrical, engine repair, drive train, engine performance, and automatic transmission.
• Ability to read, interpret, and record data accurately.
• Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced mechanical repairs, including engine performance, drivability, and electrical systems.
• Diagnose and repair brake systems, steering, suspension, complete 4-wheel alignments, and service heating and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Inspect vehicles to meet CarMax Quality Standards and maintain shop cleanliness per 5S principles.
• Consult with customers on repair needs, explain services performed, and ensure clear communication.
• Review and close repair orders accurately, including labor, parts, and billing documentation.
• Manage parts inventory, receive shipments, and maintain proper stocking levels to support efficiency.
• Follow CarMax EH&S requirements and maintain a clean and orderly work area.
