Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time day shift in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. The role focuses on evaluation, diagnosis and management of patients with hematologic malignancies and those undergoing autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, with BMT coverage.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of APP experience in Hematology/Oncology or BMT, knowledge of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and cellular therapies (CAR-T),

Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing with Adult Acute Care NP certification or PA program completion
Current Alabama APRN/CRNP or PA-C license with board certification
BLS required; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit

Responsibilities

Provide medical care and treatment for hematology/oncology patients within scope of practice
Coordinate plan of care, discharge planning and referrals
Order and interpret labs and imaging as appropriate
Assist in procedures and participate in performance improvement activities
Rotate across inpatient BMT coverage and cellular therapy coverage

Skills

Hematology/Oncology experience

BMT/cellular therapy knowledge

CAR-T knowledge

Education

Master's degree in Nursing (Adult Acute Care NP) or PA program graduate
