Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a PRN inpatient role in the Hematology/Oncology Specialty Unit. The provider will manage acutely ill patients from admission to discharge, with experience in chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies.

The candidate should have Hematology/Oncology experience, be licensed as an APN-CRNP or PA-C, and maintain BLS certification. Weekend shifts and 6 shifts per quarter are required, with comprehensive benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Nursing with Acute Care NP or PA program completion required.
• Certified Advanced Practice Nurse (CRNP) or PA-C licensure required by Alabama boards.
• BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical care to surgical patients under collaborating physician or PA supervision.
• Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals.
• Perform comprehensive physical exams and interpret patient records.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging; participate in performance improvement activities.
• Educate patients and families; participate in training of new staff.
