TEACHER JOB OPENINGS
Adult Education Program

Bridgeport Adult Education Program


Bridgeport Public Schools is seeking applicants for a certified teacher for its Adult Education Day program. The program will operate from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. at Adult Learning Center. It is an alternative program for students currently seeking their high school diploma. All required courses, as well as elective courses will be available to students. Instruction will use self-paced, individualized computer instruction using the Apex Learning Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with individual students in devising sequences of educational experiences that may be expected to lead the students to achievement of their specified goals.
  • Serves as a resource person to students pursuing individual learning programs.
  • Meets regularly with students assigned for the purposes of counseling, encouraging and evaluating.
  • Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives.
  • Makes provision for being available to students for conferences outside the instructional day when requested to do so.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all the policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops such procedures as are necessary for the success of the alternative education program.
  • Attends staff meetings and maintains reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Connecticut state teacher certification with the endorsements: English (015), Science (030,031, 032, 033, 034), or Social Studies (266), or special education (658).
  • Must hold or be able to acquire (106) certification endorsement.
  • Strong literacy background preferred.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Previous experience with alternative programs is an advantage.
  • Previous experience with online course instruction.
