Qualifications

Adult Education Instructor (ESL) for Delaware County Literacy Council

Position Overview

The role of the ESL Instructor is to develop and implement a best-practice based curriculum rooted in the real-life needs of English language learners.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Prepare and deliver adult education curriculum in classroom setting. Lessons must address real-life goals including attainment of citizenship, getting or keeping employment, and transition to GED or post-secondary education.
  2. Monitor students’ progress through use of standardized assessments.
  3. Attend Teachers meetings and professional development as approved by supervisor.
  4. Submit weekly lesson plans and key student data, including attendance, goal attainment, and barriers to participation.
  5. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  1. Minimum bachelor’s degree and 2 years of work experience in ESL instruction.

Other Skills/Abilities

  1. Certification in CASAS administration. If not, already certified training will be provided by DCLC.
  2. Ability to support students in connecting to support service staff.
