The State of Georgia, via West Georgia Technical College, seeks a part-time Corrections Instructor to teach HSE (GED/HiSET) in a Carroll County correctional facility. Evening hours (6:00 PM – 8:30 PM) with classes 2-3 times per week.

Emphasis on language arts, math, science, and social studies to help learners achieve a high school equivalency. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and two years of related work experience.

This evening (PM) position delivers instruction in the academic areas of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, supporting students in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to earn a high school equivalency credential and achieve their educational and career goals.Essential Functions:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.• Teach HSE classes that consist of standards-based lessons in reading, writing, speaking, and/or language skills based on the individualized learning needs of students. (60%)• Utilize pre-test scores to develop targeted instruction for students; devise student learning plans for all students based on pre-test scores and prepare students for post-testing. (20%)• Conduct and coordinate student assessments. Review post-test scores and practice test scores. (5%)• Complete and maintain appropriate attendance and assessment records and ensure timely submission (daily) of data. Evaluate students’ ongoing progress and performance in attaining goals and objectives and document in program database. (5%)• Participate in staff development.
