Job summary

Sacramento SPCA is seeking an Adoption Counselor to assist the public with adoption needs, answer questions, and provide accurate information while maintaining a compassionate environment. The role reports to the Adoptions Manager and supports a busy, life-saving program.

Position requires exceptional customer service, ability to work in a fast-paced setting, and effective communication with the public, staff, and volunteers. Training and team collaboration are emphasized.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• One year experience in animal welfare preferred.
• One year experience in providing excellent customer service required.
• Basic knowledge of domestic animals, their care and housing is expected.

Responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service to the public, staff and volunteers.
• Work in a fast-paced environment to minimize wait times and maintain quality service.
• Multitask and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Educate customers about adoption processes and animal temperaments.
