Job summary

Louisiana SPCA is seeking an Adoption Associate to guide adopters through thoughtful matchmaking and coordinate foster and rescue placements. You will deliver outstanding client experiences that turn adoptions into lifelong bonds between pets and families.

The role serves as the public face of the organization, requiring compassionate communication, accurate documentation, and collaboration across teams to ensure positive outcomes for every animal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; some college or a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment substance screening.
• Must have or be able to obtain a valid State of Louisiana driver’s license.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and accurate data entry into shelter software.
• Excellent organizational and collaborative skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Able to mediate disputes professionally and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Counsel adopters and guide matchmaking to suitable pets and households.
• Support foster and rescue placements and communicate updates to multiple teams.
• Provide exceptional client service in person, phone, and email; explain programs and fees.
