Job summary

Care Initiatives is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) — RN to lead and develop our nursing team in Iowa. The role involves guiding care delivery, enforcing policies, coaching RNs, and coordinating administrative tasks to improve unit performance.

As an ADON, you will collaborate with the DON, support regulatory compliance, and ensure compassionate, high-quality care for residents while engaging families and staff in a supportive leadership environment.

Qualifications

• Valid RN license in good standing (Iowa active or activatable).
• Current, valid CPR Certification.
• Knowledge of federal and state long-term care regulations and laws.
• Desire to learn and grow as part of a quality‑focused clinical team.
• Strong commitment to compassionate, respectful care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, organizing, and directing the nursing department to gain experience and advancement within the organization.
• Conduct regular rounds to monitor care delivery and progress; acknowledge progress and help implement solutions.
• Enforce policies and guide the team to promote growth and quality care.
• Support and coach RNs to promote teamwork and high-quality care.
• Manage administrative functions to enhance department efficiency and pave future growth.
• Communicate effectively with residents and families regarding care needs.
• Document care accurately to meet clinical, regulatory, and facility standards.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance protocols at all times.
• Participate in an on-call rotation with the leadership team.
