Job summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Cedarhurst Senior Living reports to the Director of Nursing and helps lead the community's clinical operations. You will supervise nursing and caregiving staff, partner with physicians, and ensure care aligns with standards and resident goals.

You will drive training, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance while supporting safety, wellbeing, and independence for residents. Leadership and collaboration across teams are essential.

Qualifications

• Current state nursing license (RN or LPN) required.
• 3+ years nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and BLS certification preferred.
• Experience with elder care and care plans.
• Knowledge of eMAR and medication oversight.

Responsibilities

• Assist Nursing Director with standards of nursing practice.
• Oversee medication administration per care plans.
• Develop and maintain in-service education for nursing staff.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor delivery of nursing care.
• Participate in management team for policy and care planning.
• Assess residents for appropriate levels of care.
• Coordinate work of nursing/care staff and communicate health information.
• Supervise medications for residents who self-administer if applicable.
• Complete nursing day-to-day duties on scheduled shifts.
• Oversee pharmacy and community relationships ensuring timely med delivery and accurate eMAR.
• Assist with oversight of the entire clinical department and staff.
• Provide interim documentation to resident files and attend interdisciplinary meetings.
• Understand all clinical responsibilities and perform them effectively.
• Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high-performing team.
• Engage in occupancy efforts while ensuring resident wellbeing.
• Promote resident wellbeing and strive for maximum independence when possible.
• Understand Advance Directives and honor resident wishes.
• Ensure effective family communication about care.
• Create and manage department schedule for coverage and budget.
• Work with others and resolve conflicts; take initiative as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
