Elderwood at Williamsville is seeking a clinical leader for the important role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN).
The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and an ability to foster teamwork.
Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) Position Overview:
- The ADON (RN) leads, supports, and ensures the health and well-being of our residents by assisting the DON with staffing, staff training and development, and management of personnel in the Nursing department.
- The ADON (RN) assesses residents, performs audits, and follows regulations and best practices within their scope of practice.
- This individual also serves as Infection Control Preventionist.
- Assists the DON in directing and developing nursing activities and staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing services.
- Develops, implements, communicates, and interprets nursing policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Communicates policies to staff and monitors practice implementation.
- Requires RN license.
Responsibilities
Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) will:
- Assume duties of the Director of Nursing in their absence.
- Assist in planning nursing services for resident discharge plans.
- Handle personnel duties such as hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, and evaluating staff.
- Perform administrative duties including documentation and reporting.
- Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage.
- Ensure all nursing assistants are properly trained or enrolled in training programs.
- Assist in determining staffing needs.
- Resolve personnel issues and motivate staff.
- Develop work assignments and schedules.
- Delegate authority to Charge Nurses and Nurse Supervisors.
- Supervise admissions and readmissions for Medicare eligibility.
- Coordinate therapeutic services for residents.
- Monitor resident progress and eligibility for services.
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure standards are met.
- Provide a safe, clean, and comfortable environment.
- Assess resident conditions and monitor medication and treatments.
- Report medication errors and provide direct care when necessary.
Qualifications
Candidate must:
- Possess a Nursing degree from an accredited school.
- Hold an active, unencumbered nursing license.
- Preferably have a Baccalaureate degree.
- Have knowledge of geriatric care, management principles, and communication systems.
- Pass a physical exam indicating no communicable disease.
- Be in good physical and mental health.
- Be able to work independently and in teams.
- Communicate effectively.
- If driving is required, possess a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Have at least 2 years of supervisory experience in healthcare facilities.
- Experience in long-term care is desirable.
- Computer skills are preferred.
