Salary: $81,900 - $99,450 / year

Overview

Elderwood at Williamsville is seeking a clinical leader for the important role of Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN).

The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and an ability to foster teamwork.

Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) Position Overview:
  1. The ADON (RN) leads, supports, and ensures the health and well-being of residents by assisting the DON with staffing, staff training, development, and management of personnel in the Nursing department.
  2. The ADON assesses residents, performs audits, and follows regulations and best practices within scope of practice.
  3. This individual serves as Infection Control Preventionist.
  4. Assists the DON in directing nursing activities and staff, ensuring the delivery of quality nursing services.
  5. Develops, implements, and communicates nursing policies and procedures in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  6. Communicates policies to staff, monitors practices, and ensures compliance.
  7. Requires RN license.
Responsibilities

As Assistant Director of Nursing (RN):

  1. Assume duties of the Director of Nursing in their absence.
  2. Assist in planning the nursing services portion of discharge plans.
  3. Perform administrative duties, including documentation and reporting.
  4. Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate nursing staff, including counseling and disciplinary actions.
  5. Ensure adequate 24-hour nursing coverage.
  6. Ensure all nursing assistants are properly enrolled or graduated from approved programs.
  7. Assist in determining staffing needs.
  8. Monitor resident progress and eligibility for Medicare services.
  9. Coordinate therapeutic services.
  10. Perform daily rounds to ensure standards are met and provide direct nursing care as needed.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
  2. Current, active RN license.
  3. Baccalaureate degree preferred.
  4. Knowledge of geriatric long-term care, management principles, and communication systems.
  5. Physical exam or physician's clearance for communicable diseases.
  6. Good physical and mental health.
  7. Ability to work independently and in a team.
  8. Effective communication skills.
  9. If driving, valid driver's license with good record and at least 21 years old.
  10. Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in healthcare setting.
  11. Previous long-term care experience desirable.
  12. Computer skills preferred.
  13. Proficiency in English for effective communication.
