An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated Nursing Supervisor to assist in managing nursing staff and ensuring high-quality resident care. Description
Assists the DON in planning, developing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff. Assists in the development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies, and procedures. Works with the DON to recruit, hire, and train nursing staff. Assists the DON with employee appraisals and resolving problems, including disciplinary actions. Acts as the backup for the DON, RN, and LVN staff. May be required to provide direct resident care as needed.
Oversees clinical operations, including making daily rounds and monitoring resident conditions. Responsible for ensuring resident safety and that residents are treated with the utmost respect. Acts as a liaison between residents, family members, and physicians. Attends staff meetings and conducts staff meetings if the DON is unavailable. Provides reports and recommendations to the DON concerning the operation of nursing services.
Assists the DON in designing, implementing, and evaluating nursing systems that ensure consistent delivery of care and promote resident rights. Assists with ongoing in-services for nursing staff. Maintains confidentiality regarding residents and employees. Must stay informed of regulatory changes and communicate them appropriately.
Assists with the overall supervision and management of the nursing staff.
Education and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred. Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain all required continuing education/licensing. 3-5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in a long-term care facility.
Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates and Licenses: Proficiency in Microsoft Suite; experience with PCC preferred. Must maintain all required continuing education/licensing and remain in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
Physical Demands: Occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds. Prolonged use of desk/laptop. Regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear. Use of office equipment. Travel may be required.
Work Environment: Noise level usually low to moderate. Reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.
