Aster Springs is seeking an experienced nurse to join the adolescent program in Glen Allen, VA. The role is full-time with night shifts, focusing on recovery support for young clients and coordinated care with the treatment team.

The RN will perform assessments, administer medications, document care, and collaborate with physicians, therapists, and family members to ensure safety and effective discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Active Virginia nursing license and behavioral health experience preferred.
• Minimum 1 year in a behavioral healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Provides comprehensive nursing assessments identifying medical needs.
• Records and transcribes physician orders, initiates STAT orders as needed.
• Communicates observations and plan of care to the treatment team.
• Identifies abnormal data and notifies attending physician.
• Documents medication administration per policies and MAR.
• Coordinates pharmacy and laboratory orders, delivery, and refills.
• Maintains security of controlled medications and records use.
• Administers medications/injections per physician orders.
• Collects lab samples as ordered by providers.
• Documents in electronic charting promptly and accurately.
• Discharges planning with written/teaching meds instructions.
• Educates clients and families about meds and side effects.
• May cover adolescent program shifts; could cover adult RTC.
