Job summary

Aster Springs is seeking a Recovery Care Specialist to support clients in a behavioral health facility in Glen Allen, VA. This full-time role covers 2nd shift and night shift, focusing on maintaining a therapeutic milieu and ensuring client safety.

As a Recovery Care Specialist, you will document client records, collaborate with the clinical team, and assist with activities of daily living, meals, and group interventions. A High School Diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.
• Minimum of one year experience in a behavioral healthcare setting, preferably with clients with eating disorders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with clinical team to determine interventions based on client needs.
• Engages clients in milieu and activities throughout the workday.
• Encourages clients to perform ADLs such as room care, hygiene, and laundry.
• Supervises meals and maintains structure at mealtimes.
• Models table manners and social interaction during meals.
• Maintains a therapeutic environment in collaboration with staff.
• Interacts with clients in one-to-one, group, and community settings.
• Assists with client education groups and crisis management as needed.
• Recognizes mood changes and applies DBT coping skills with clients.
• Documents services, incidents, and shift notes accurately and timely.
• Follows safety procedures including drills and disaster plans.
• Supports medication management and client self-administration.
• Assists with admissions, intake, and paperwork for levels of care.
• Conducts client belongings search and notifies therapists of contraband.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent
